About this Book Series
Ligados are essential elements in the technique both of the Classical and the Flamenco guitar. Ligados are performed by the left hand fingers: index, middle, ring and littler finger symbolized as 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
There are three kinds of ligados:
- The ascending ligado (which connects lower with higher notes).
- The descending ligado (which connects higher with lower notes).
- The complex ligado which contains either ascending or descending ligados or even a combination of these. Complex ligados connect more than two notes.
In this project ligados refer to one, two, three or four strings and they are ascending, descending, simple or complex.
They are based on the chromatic scales of one string (8 notes) as the one that follows:
Each chromatic scale (of 8 notes) is structured together with its opposite as:
In that way an ascending ligado returns as descending and the practice of the fingers is balanced.
Specifically, ligados develop in 11 units and refer to the practice of:
1.
Two fingers with the other two stable.
UNITS: I, II, III, IV, V and VI
2.
Three fingers with the other one stable
UNITS: VII, VIII, IX and X.
3.
Four fingers
UNIT XI.
The “rest” positions of the finger or fingers which do not practice are mentioned and described in the beginning of each unit.
Volume I includes the first three progressive levels in terms of difficulty.
