About this Volume

The present volume includes exercises on simultaneous strike of the thumb (of one or two strings) with fingers i, m and a of the right hand in combination with two double consecutive strikes of the thumb (pp – pp). This book is about the Flamenco technique, however, striking the thumb one time (from top to bottom i.e. from the 6th to the 1st string) is equally useful for the learners of classical guitar.

The student can practice on these exercises by changing the thumb strikes in the following modes except the basic mode prescribed in the book.

 

The present book includes six units. Each unit includes six paragraphs with indication A and six paragraphs with indication B.
The paragraphs with indication A concern simultaneous strike of the thumb with two fingers. Six fingerings:

 

The paragraphs with indication B concern simultaneous strike of the thumb with three fingers. Twelve fingerings:

 

The simultaneous strike of the thumb on one adjacent string, on which the chromatic scale develops (for example the 2nd string), is enclosed in a small square

 

and this means that the notes are played in Tirando mode by the right hand fingers.
